Conventional telephone devices (analogue or ISDN) can no longer be used. You require IP-enabled telephone devices (SIP telephones) for a Virtual PBX connection. You will be given the option of choosing from various models during the order process. Our installation partner will configure all the devices during the on-site installation.

Do I need a PC to use Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business?

No, that is not automatically necessary unless you use a softphone that is installed on your PC. Virtual PBX allows you to dial any telephone in the world with your IP phone, without needing a PC. You can also be called from any connection in the world at any time.

How can I make calls with Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business?

You need a Business Internet Fiber Power connection with a bandwidth of 35/3.5 Mbit/s, 75/7 Mbit/s or 150/10 Mbit/s.

How can I use Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business for my company?

You can port your existing fixed network number to upc cablecom business and use it with the desired Virtual PBX service. 

Does Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business also work behind a firewall?

Essentially, yes. In most networks the firewall will have to be specially configured by the system administrator. To implement Virtual PBX in your LAN, we recommend that you use the specialist recommended by upc cablecom business. The specialist will check your existing infrastructure and can, if required, make changes or additions to your LAN (the LAN’s VoIP suitability, firewall configuration, IP telephone device setup, induction and training).

Is the call quality suitable for business purposes?

The call quality depends on the available bandwidth, the quality of the internal network and the quality of the Internet connection. Business Internet Fiber Power always guarantees the necessary bandwidth. We recommend that you have the quality of your internal network checked by our installation partner.

How can I communicate with branch offices, home offices and external employees without incurring call charges?

By equipping your head office and branch offices with Virtual PBX connections by upc cablecom business (company connection and/or single user solutions by upc cablecom business). Virtual PBX-connected sites can telephone each other free of charge.

Can I create and change the voicemail message myself?

Yes, that is possible.

Which bandwidth does a call require?

The required bandwidth for a telephone call with upc cablecom business is set at 100 Kbit/s per channel/line (upstream and downstream). So our three Business Internet Fiber Power products (with the lowest offer starting at 35,000 Kbit/s downstream and 3,500 Mbit/s upstream) provide more than enough bandwidth for telephony solutions. This bandwidth is sufficient to set up a telephone connection that matches ISDN quality (an ISDN line requires 64 Kbit/s).

Does the call number display (CLIP) work with Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business?

Yes, the IP telephone devices with display that are available on the market support call number display.

What happens if I do not take a call?

Virtual PBX from upc cablecom business provides you with a free answering machine: callers can leave a message which is immediately sent to you by e-mail.

Can I replace my ISDN connection with Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business?

You no longer need a conventional telephone connection. However, the traditional telephone devices have to be replaced by IP-enabled telephone devices.

How do I connect the IP telephone if I only have one connection and it is already used for my computer?

To run an IP telephone you need a free Ethernet/LAN connection. Our recommended installation partner can carry out these adjustments.

Can I also send faxes using Virtual PBX by upc cablecom business?

Unfortunately, because there is such a wide variety of fax modems and fax machines, upc cablecom business cannot guarantee that a fax machine will work properly. However, a significant proportion of our Virtual PBX customers do manage to use Virtual PBX for faxing. If a fax machine is essential in your company, we recommend that you use it on an analogue telephone connection.
